Derrick Kelly Speaks to the Students at the Brownsville Middle School Criminal Justice and Law Academy During Black History Month

As a fitting ending to the month, HM&B Law partner Derrick Kelly spoke to the students at the Brownsville Middle School Criminal Justice and Law Academy on the topic of “Understanding and Appreciating Black History as Part of American History.” He discussed the intrinsic issues that are important to each student, no matter their race. These issues, he emphasized, include the recognition of problems and possibilities, creating routines to remain committed to the process of improvement, staying the course toward progress, and taking an active part in remedying issues that plague our society. Afterward, the group participated in a spirited Q & A on the differences between the civil and criminal justice system. Congratulations to Derrick on inspiring the next generation of legal minds!
