Paralegal (Miami)
Hamilton Miller & Birthisel LLP is currently seeking experienced Paralegals for full-time positions in their litigation defense practice, specializing in insurance defense, including premises/bodily injury and first-party property cases & more.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- Experience: 3-5 years in insurance defense, specifically in premises/bodily injury and first-party property.
- Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, a team player, and capable of multitasking.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with state and federal court rules.
- Ability to follow client billing guidelines and manage billing entries.
- Prior trial experience is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Locate and contact factual witnesses.
- Draft witness and exhibit lists.
- Organize case documents accurately.
- Identify and reach out to experts, assist in preparing hearing and trial notebooks, and support during trials.
- Conduct initial case investigations, gather facts, draft pleadings and discovery documents (interrogatories, requests for production).

Essential Functions:
- Drives firm revenue through oversight and improvement of billing and collections, including management of process improvement and productivity.
- Serves as finance partner to CFO and firm owners to achieve operational priorities in an efficient and financially responsible manner.
- Oversees Account Payable and Receivable.
- Responsibility for staffing of Accounting Department.
- Budget preparation and reporting.
- Financial reporting and analysis, both monthly and ad-hoc
- Bank account management, account transfers, and bank reconciliations.
Education and Experience:
- Min. Bachelors Degree in Accounting
- Min 5 years financial management experience
- Law firm accounting experience
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Legal time and billing software experience, Perfectlaw highly preferred
- Full knowledge of general ledger and GAAP
- Expert Excel skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to lead, influence, and encourage others to excellence
- Sound financial/business decision making skills
