Zea R. McDonnough is a partner in Hamilton, Miller & Birthisel’s Orlando office. She is an outstanding trial lawyer. Zea is a member of the firm’s prominent High Exposure Attorney Team (HEAT) and one of the heads of our Auto and Transportation team. She concentrates her practice on vehicle negligence, premises liability, product liability, professional malpractice, catastrophic loss, dram shop, wrongful death, SIU insurance fraud defense, and general civil litigation.

Zea has handled civil defense for over a decade and prepared countless cases for trial, tried cases to verdict, and amicably settled the majority of the disputes she has handled. She believes in preparing all cases for trial while exploring opportunities for a mutually agreeable resolution before necessitating trial.

Zea graduated cum laude from the University of Central Florida, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature. She earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. While a Gator, she served as vice president of the Real Property Law Association.  During law school, Zea worked as a Certified Legal Intern at the Ninth Judicial Circuit Office of the Public Defender and after graduation, served as an Assistant Public Defender for four years, during which time she tried over twenty-five criminal cases before transitioning her skill set to civil litigation.

Zea is active in the Central Florida legal community and particularly enjoys providing mentorship to newer attorneys both within her firm and practice group as well as in the wider legal community.
