Suzanne (Suzie) Villa is a partner in the firm’s Jacksonville office. She is a trial lawyer who primarily handles first and third-party personal injury cases involving automobile accidents, trucking accidents and premises liability actions. With over 25 years of experience, Suzie is a skilled negotiator and is known for her vigorous advocacy on behalf of clients. She is also a Certified Circuit Court Mediator.

Prior to joining Hamilton, Miller and Birthisel, Suzie was a partner at a well regarded insurance defense firm in Florida handling bodily injury and extracontractual cases for various insurance companies. She served as a managing attorney working in-house for two national companies, handling her own caseloads and ensuring that her bodily injury teams handled cases appropriately. During her tenure, she received several distinguished performance awards. 

Suzie began her legal career at the State Attorney’s Office in Jacksonville, Florida where she tried several outstanding cases. Later, as Division Chief of the Special Assault Unit, she supervised a team of attorneys prosecuting violent crimes.

Suzie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Florida. She obtained a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of North Florida and her J.D. from the New England School of Law in 1995. In the academic world, Suzie has been privileged to teach Alternative Dispute Resolution to second and and third year law students as an adjunct faculty professor.

  • Negotiated a favorable settlement for the insurer and insured on a complicated surgical case resulting from a motor vehicle accident. Case was negotiated under the authority given for settlement. 
  • Tried a third-party bodily injury case to verdict. Was able to successfully cross examine several Plaintiff experts who opined that the motor vehicle accident caused Plaintiff’s injuries which resulted in Plaintiff being placed in a nursing home. The jury decided for the Defendant with a zero verdict. 
  • Became proficient at mentoring less experienced attorneys through case reviews, roundtables and collaborative brainstorming.
