Paul G. Totten is a Partner in the Miami office and is a highly-experienced litigation and trial attorney with a record of successful trials. He has been recognized as a Super Lawyer and Rising Star by Law and Politics several times throughout his career.

In his two decades of practice, Paul has defended Fortune 500 companies in a wide range of industries including retail, hospitality, trucking, restaurants and security companies in cases involving catastrophic motor vehicle/transportation accidents, personal injury and wrongful death, premises liability and negligent security.

Paul is involved in all phases of the cases he handles, from initial investigation and evaluation through discovery, summary dispositions, mediation and trial.  

Paul began his career at a mid-sized personal injury defense firm, where his hard work and excellent results led to him being made a Partner. Eventually, he founded his own law firm where he continued to apply his litigation expertise to a myriad of client matters and causes of action, and he continues to do so for every client he has represented throughout his career.

Paul received his Juris Doctor from the St. Thomas University School of Law, and his Bachelors of Science Degree from the Florida State University.

Paul also obtained the rank of Eagle Scout.

Experience

  • Obtained a Defense Verdict for a child-care center in a wrongful death case where a child died from a brain aneurysm. Plaintiffs alleged child had obvious symptoms of a major medical problem and the center waited to call EMT, due to alleged negligent training and supervision of the child-care center’s employees. Plaintiff asked the jury to aware 1.5 million dollars. Janet Rogers v. After School Programs, Inc., Case No.: CACE00010425 – Broward County, FL.
  • Obtained a Defense Verdict for a South Beach Night Club who Plaintiff alleged maintained a “dangerous condition” in the dance area causing Plaintiff to suffer a severe injury. The Plaintiff asked the jury to aware $500,000.00. William Reed v. 1445 Washington, Inc., Case No.: 2006-26603-CA – Miami-Dade County, FL.
  • Obtained a Defense Verdict for a Restaurant/Night Club who Plaintiff alleged allowed a dangerous condition to remain on the floor, causing her to slip and fall, resulting in a serious ankle fracture that resulted in a drop foot.
