Nikki Hawkins is a trial lawyer and Partner in the Jacksonville Office.  She focuses her practice on defending catastrophic claims relating to wrongful death and personal injuries.  She has significant experience also in defending automobile and trucking claims, SIU and fraud-related matters, and first-party property (FPP) insurance defense. 

Nikki’s wealth of trial experience throughout Duval and Baker Counties has given her a reputation as a tenacious and professional lawyer.  Not only is she an accomplished trial lawyer but she has also authored several appellate briefs, and successfully argued to overturn decisions in the District Courts of Appeal here in Florida.  Nikki is passionate about children’s rights and when not trying cases she serves as  Attorney Ad Litem for children in dependency in hearings before the Court. 

Nikki  has almost  two decades of experience within two major insurance carriers where she also spent three years as a Special Investigator of medical billing fraud and insurance fraud. Her time and expertise within Special Investigations led to two arrests in one year’s time, the recovery of over $600,000 with an additional $400,000.00 of non-payment of pended PIP billing. As the project manager, Nikki led a coalition Task Force in the investigation of medical billing fraud with Florida Department of Insurance Fraud, and Federal Medicaid/Medicare Special Agents which ultimately led to a recovery of over $400,000 in Medicare/Worker’s Compensation fraud for the state of Florida.

For more than ten years Nikki Hawkins has represented insurance companies in the defense of a wide variety of lines of coverage including bad faith.  She has successfully litigated and tried breach of contract, liability and bad faith actions stemming from insurers’ handling of personal injury and property damage matters and is currently working as Extra-Contractual (EC) counsel for insurance carriers throughout the State of Florida. 

Nikki resides in the Jacksonville area with her husband (retired after 30 years of Naval Service), five children and six grandchildren.

  • Obtained Writ of Certiorari quashing lower Court Order requiring Defendant to respond to  surveillance discovery. Lightfoot v Hunt, 1D2019-2901, FL 1st DCA 20189
  • Obtained complete defense verdict as co-counsel in motor vehicle accident with admitted liability and disputed damages. Wininger v Robinson, 04-2017-CA-246, Baker County, FL 
  • Obtained partial summary judgment in PIP material misrepresentation case by Plaintiff against Defendant finding that non-disclosure of information was material to the acceptance of the risk and reasonably would have affected the insurer’s judgment as to the nature of the risk and amount of premium.
