Jackeline S. Rodriguez is a partner in the Miami office where she focuses in the areas of construction law, professional liability (architects and engineers), products liability, property and casualty law, maritime law, insurance defense and commercial litigation.

Ms. Rodriguez’s knowledge and background as an attorney is enhanced by an engineering degree and experience as a civil engineer.  Ms. Rodriguez received her Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Florida and thereafter successfully passed the EIT exam and is now a candidate to obtain professional licensure as a civil engineer.

Ms. Rodriguez received her Juris Doctor from the University of Akron School of Law in 2009.  During law school, she was awarded a Public Interest Fellowship and clerked for the Honorable Judge Patricia Cosgrove of the Summit County of Common Pleas.  Ms. Rodriguez was president of her law school’s Asian-Latino Law Student Association and a member of the Moot Court Honor Society.  During her law school employment, Ms. Rodriguez was certified as a Legal Intern by the Ohio State Supreme Court.  She subsequently joined the Summit County Legal Defenders as a certified intern where under the supervision of licensed attorneys, she represented criminal defendants charged with misdemeanors.

Ms. Rodriguez is licensed to practice law in Florida and Ohio and before the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.  She is a member of The Florida Bar, the Dade County Bar Association, the Cuban American Bar Association, and the Hispanic National Bar Association.

In the community, Ms. Rodriguez has volunteered for high school competitions for SECME (Science, Engineering, Communication, Mathematics Enhancement) while a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.  SECME is an organization designed to motivate and mentor pre-college students to which Ms. Rodriguez was a high school student member.  Ms. Rodriguez has also volunteered for the Alachua County Humane Society of Gainesville, Florida, the Haven of Rest Ministries in Akron, Ohio, as well as other local volunteer organizations.

Ms. Rodriguez is fluent in Spanish and conversational French.

  • Successfully argued Summary Judgment Motion on behalf of Property Owner, against plaintiff who had been injured while cleaning the property, which was an active construction site. Neri Villalona De Guzman vs. MDM Retail Ltd., CASE NO: 2019-034202-CA-01 (11th Cir. March 1, 2022).
  • Obtained a defense verdict against plaintiff-insured with a commercial policy loss where the Plaintiff alleged water loss destroyed all of its inventory. The Jury awarded the defendant a judgment on its counterclaim for intentional misrepresentation against the Plaintiff-insured. Kolko RNS Kolko Textiles v. Nautilus Insurance Co., No. 2011-CA-019640 (Fla. 15th Cir. April 19, 2017).
  • Represents architects, engineers, developer, general contractors, and subcontractors in range of construction defect cases.
  • Represented geotechnical engineering firm, which was contracted to recommend foundation and investigate site conditions on a hospital expansion project. University Community Hospital, Inc. v. Professional Service Industries, Case No. 8:15-cv-628-T-27EAJ (M.D. Fla 2017) (matter settled at mediation with Federal magistrate).
  • Defended land engineer and surveyor company, which was contracted to design prepare property for sale.  Successfully limited Plaintiff’s damages to repair costs, excluding diminution in value. Hopewell LLC v. Causseaux, Hewett & Walpole, Inc. Case No. 1D14-1723 (1st  DCA 2014) (Plaintiff’s writ of certiorari was denied and matter proceeded to settle).
  • Defended environmental engineer which provided civil engineering, site and surveying services in the planning of County land.  Pasco County v. Neel-Schaffer, Case No. 2016CA000228 (6th Cir. 2019) (matter settled after discovery of pre-existing site issues significantly reducing liability).
  • Represented architect, Womack + Hampton Architects LLC, in multi-defendant lawsuit brought by the owner of the property (apartments).  Alta Congress Owner LLC v. Coastal Construction Co. of Palm Beach Inc., Case No. 2017CA012476 (15th Cir. 2019) (matter settled).
  • Represented structural engineer in multi-defendant lawsuit brought by Association for high rise property in urban setting. Iconbrickell Condo. V, Iconbrickell LLC, et al. Case No. 2014-5141 (11th Cir. 2020) (matter settled)
  • Represented architect in multiple lawsuits brought by unit owners independently for errors and omissions in design and construction defects against multiple contractors, which resulted in mold and health problems to Plaintiffs. i.e. Chanel Charlton v. Glavovic Studio Inc., Case No. 2017-CA-009426 (17th Cir. 2019). Matter settled.
  • Defends contractors in catastrophic construction workplace accident lawsuits.
  • Defended FDOT and its maintenance contractor in work related death. Smyth v. Infrastructure Corp., Case No. 2008-CA-006354 (13th Cir. 2015) (wrongful death matter brought by family settled).
  • Defended manufacturers in design defect/product liability matters, with fatality or crippling injuries.
  • Trial defense team in Robin Listman vs. Outboard Marine Corporation, Case No. 3:10-cv-00311-LRH-RAM (USDC Nev. 2011). Plaintiff was seeking damages after losing a limb in a sports boat accident.  The Jury awarded a defense verdict to the manufacturer of the outboard engine.
