J. Derek Kantaskas (Derek) is a partner in the firm’s Tampa office. He is a trial lawyer who concentrates his practice in commercial litigation and premises liability. Derek has represented numerous clients in complex business disputes. He is a skilled litigator whose ability to analyze and evaluate cases has benefited his clients in allowing them to get expedient and favorable results.

Derek’s clients have included globally engineered producers and servicers that support infrastructure development and agricultural productivity, nationwide homebuilders, general contractors, condominium associations, developers, large project owners, and heavy construction companies.

Derek earned his B.A. degree at the University of South Florida and his J.D. from Stetson University College of Law. He has been selected 10 times as a “Super Lawyer” by Florida Super Lawyers He is a past co-chair for the Construction Law Section of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, and has authored over a dozen articles and journals covering a variety of topics. Nationally, Derek is an active member of the Forum on Construction Law for the American Bar Association, where he served on the Steering Committee for the Division 9 Section relating to Subcontractors and Suppliers.
