Douglas Scheller, Jr. is an associate in the firm’s Miami office. Douglas is a trial lawyer who focuses his practice in the areas of admiralty and maritime claims, commercial litigation, insurance matters, and products liability. Douglas has practiced law across the country, in California, New York, and Florida. He has represented a diverse range of clients, providing pre-litigation counsel, managing complex litigation, and developing strategic solutions for intricate coverage disputes.

Before joining Hamilton, Miller & Birthisel, Douglas worked at prominent maritime law firms focusing in maritime insurance defense, insurance coverage, and transportation matters.

Originally from a coastal town outside Boston, Douglas earned his B.A. degree at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Before attending law school, Douglas worked as a licensed captain in the New England area, giving him unique insight into the maritime industry that now informs his legal advocacy. He earned his Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School in 2017, where he obtained a Certificate of Specialization in Maritime Law and served as President of the Maritime Law Society.
