Maria Lourdes Asencion is an associate attorney at in the firm’s Miami office. Maria is a trial lawyer who has concentrated her practice in the area of insurance defense specifically litigating civil and commercial claims and lawsuits. Maria is a valuable team member whose experience will benefit clients to secure expedient outcomes. 

Prior to joining Hamilton, Miller & Birthisel, Maria was employed with insurance defense firms focusing her defense practice on first- and third-party coverage disputes, personal injury, subrogation claims, premises liability, material misrepresentations, bodily injury, and general liability. 

Maria is a graduate of Florida International University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in criminal justice. She obtained her Juris Doctor degree from St. Thomas University School of Law. As a law student, Maria interned at the Department of Homeland Security, Miami Dade County Public Schools and the Miami Dade State Attorney’s Office.

Maria resides with her husband and two children in Miami, Florida. She enjoys spending time on the boat, beach, traveling, and Disney with her family.
