Sheryl S. Natelson is a partner in the firm’s Miami office. She is a trial lawyer whose legal practice includes commercial litigation, insurance coverage/extracontractual liability, insurer insolvency, intellectual property law and professional liability. Sheryl is a tireless advocate and skilled litigator who has used her talents to unravel the most complex claims.

Prior to joining HM&B, Sheryl was a partner at a large AV rated law firm and has served as in-house general counsel for several closely held corporations. 

Sheryl graduated from Brandeis University, with departmental honors and was a recipient of the Solomon Grant. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Law and her honors included being on the Dean’s List. She has worked as an intern law clerk for the Hon. William M. Hoeveler, Federal District Court of the Southern District of Florida, intern congressional aide for the Hon. Edward J. Stack., U.S. House of Representatives; and intern senatorial aide for the Hon. Jack H. Backman, Senior Senator, Commonwealth of MA.

In addition to her professional commitments, Sheryl was a member of the Planning and Zoning Board of the City of Hallandale Beach, Florida from 2001 through 2017, and for several years served as this quasi-judicial board’s chairperson.

  • Obtained order granting summary judgment in insurance coverage case, Zurich Am. Ins. Co. v. Nat’l Specialty Ins. Co., 246 F. Supp. 3d (S.D. Fla. 2017); 
  • Prevailed in appeal pertaining to water management district’s proposed rules and minimum flows, in Still v. Suwannee River Water Mgt. Dist., No. 1D17–1940 (Fla. 1st DCA 2018)
  • Prevailed in appeal of breach of contract case, in Zapata v. Howett Holdings, Inc., No. 3D14-2462 (Fla. 3d DCA 2015)

community involvement

  • Executive Chair of Leadership Development and held other leadership positions on the board of the Young Leadership Council, Greater Miami Jewish Federation.
  • As of 2009, she was registered with FEMA as a member of the Certified Emergency Response Team (“CERT”), for the Hallandale Beach Fire Department.
  • Elected committeewoman and is active in other civic and charitable organizations in her community.
