Elisha M. Sullivan is an Associate in the firm’s Miami office.  Elisha has spent most of her career litigating cases in admiralty and maritime law, and personal injury defense. She represents some of the world’s largest cruise lines, defending claims by cruise passengers and crew members for personal injury, medical malpractice and sexual assault. She is experienced in alternative dispute resolution, and has handled numerous arbitration matters before the International Centre for Dispute Resolution. She is a skilled writer, and has secured numerous pre-trial judgments in favor of her clients.

A native of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Elisha relocated in 2000 to attend Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, after which she attended law school at the University of Miami, graduating magna cum laude. She also received the Dean’s Certificate of Achievement in Evidence and the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in International Law. During law school she was a member of the International and Comparative Law Review and served as President of the International Moot Court Board, participating in the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition. She was also a participant in the Leipzig-Miami Seminar and traveled to Leipzig, Germany where she presented on American estate law. After law school, she returned the University of Miami to coach law students in the International Moot Court Program competing in the Susan J. Ferrell Intercultural Human Rights Moot Court Competition at St. Thomas University School of Law.

  • Acquaviva Ltd. and Daniel Spisso v. Hatteras/Cabo Yachts, LLC., Versa Capital Management, and Brunswick Corp., Case No. 4:17-cv-00025-BR (United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, Raleigh Division, September 30, 2021) Assisted in winning final judgment after 5-day bench trial in case involving yacht fire and attempted revocation of contract. Dismissal via summary judgment achieved for predecessor company. At the close of vessel owner’s case, directed verdict obtained on 80% of the claims. After conclusion of trial, final judgment obtaining on all remaining claims, including judgment on builder’s affirmative claim for unpaid necessaries and taxable costs.
  • Taylor v. Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd., No. 20-14754, 2021 U.S. App. LEXIS 23650 (11th Cir. Aug. 10, 2021) Assisted in securing decision from the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals affirming dismissal of suit against cruise line where the plaintiff failed to follow the pleading requirements of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and U.S. Supreme Court precedent.
