Karina M. Cerda-Collazo is a partner in the firm’s Miami office. She is an experienced civil litigator in both state and federal courts. For over a decade, Karina has represented cruise lines, domestic and international underwriters and vessel owners and operators. She has also represented Florida-based insurance companies in subrogation claims as well as residential and commercial property cases. She focuses her practice primarily in the area of admiralty and maritime law, including defense of personal injury and wrongful death claims, ranging from basic matters to more complex, multi-party matters including the sinking of a U.S.-flagged vessel. Karina’s practice includes transactional work including the drafting of concessionaire agreements, maritime employment contracts, passenger tickets, terminal agreements, maritime collective bargaining agreements, docking contracts, bills of lading, towing agreements, charter contracts, salvage agreements, marine transportation agreements,storage agreements, and marine service contracts of all types. From 2012 through 2017, Karina has continuously been recognized as a Rising Star in the Florida Super Lawyers Publication.
Prior to pursuing her law degree, Karina worked as an International Business Executive and marketing professional in the healthcare industry. Her direct interaction with physicians and other medical professionals developed Karina’s keen eye and knowledge of medical issues. This experience allows her to assess and tailor the defense of each case to obtain a successful outcome for her clients. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Karina is also a graduate of Florida International University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a Double Major in Marketing and International Business. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
